September is Passport Awareness Month. If you are planning a trip outside of the United States, make sure your passport is in good standing or that you apply for a new one plenty of time in advance of your trip.
Apply 6-9 months before your passport expires or before your planned travel date. Many countries require that you have six months of valid time left on your passport to travel to that country.
