2020 Election Updates

Absentee ballots for the General November 3rd Election will be available September 18- November 2, 2020.  

Due to high volume for the 2020 election, there may be longer delivery times.  

Please apply as early as possible to ensure prompt delivery.  


You can track your ballot if you applied online, however if you applied by email or mail (paper) you will not be able to track your ballot online.  If you applied during the Primary and requested for your General ballot as well to be absentee then your ballot  will be automatically mailed to you and you do not need to request again.  

Mail the ballot and forms back right away after you finish. Your returned ballot must be received by Election Day (November 3, 2020) in order to be counted . You may also drop off your ballot envelope in person to our office or in our drop box in front of our building--see details below.

Returning your ballot in person

You can also return your ballot in person no later than 3 p.m. on Election Day to the election office that sent your ballot. You can drop off ballots for up to three other voters. You will need to show  identification with name and signature when returning a ballot for someone else. You may not drop your ballot off at your polling place on election day.

Returned ballots must be received by Election Day to be counted (do not deliver to the polling location).


ELECTION BALLOT DROP BOX

A drive-up ballot drop box is now available for Sherburne County voters to deposit their voted ballot versus mailing it. You can drop it off any time until 3 p.m. on Nov. 3 (Election Day).

The ballot box is located at the front of the main entrance to the Sherburne County Government Center on the one-way drive through. It is red, white and blue with Sherburne County Ballot Box labeling.

The ballot box is monitored by the County's security system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your assurance of safe delivery of your ballot. We are providing this as a COVID-19 safety option to return your ballot to be counted without you having to enter the building.


Absentee Voting Locations:

Sherburne County Government Center/Auditor/Treasurer Department

The Sherburne County Elections Department will be an absentee voting location for all of Sherburne County.

 The address is 13880 Business Center Dr NW, Elk River.

  Business hours are Monday through Friday 8-4:30 PM.

Absentee Voting will also be available on Saturday, October 31, 2020 10am -3pm


Elk River City Hall

The City of Elk River will be an absentee voting location for the 2020 Primary and General Elections.  Residents who reside in the City of Elk River will be able to apply for and vote an absentee ballot during business hours. City Hall is located at 13065 Orono Parkway, Elk River.  The phone number is 763-635-1000.                                                                                     Business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Stearns County Administration Center

Absentee Voting location designation for Ward 2 Precincts 5, 6 and 7 located within Sherburne County in St. Cloud, MN will be at the Stearns County Auditor’s office located at Stearns County Administration Center at 705 Courthouse Square, Room 148 downtown St. Cloud, MN 56303 Hours are Monday through Friday form 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.”
