Tornadoes are nature's most violent storms. Every state is at some risk from this hazard. Tornadoes develop extremely rapidly and may dissipate just as quickly. Most tornadoes are on the ground for less than 15 minutes. They generally occur neat the trailing edge of a thunderstorm.

Precautions during Tornadoes events:

  • Understand the difference between Tornado Watch & Tornado Warning
  • Stay tuned to local weather updates
  • Be prepared to take shelter
  • After a tornado, be aware of possible structural, electrical or gas-leak hazards in your home
