Winter Weather

Winter weather increases the risk for hypothermia, frostbite and carbon monoxide poisoning. Cold temperatures, power failures, loss of communication services and icy roads are events everyone should plan for during a winter storm. Determining the Wind Chill can assist in planning for appropriate clothing, care of pets or Holiday travel.

Precautions during Winter weather events:

  • Dress warmly before you go outside in cold weather
  • Drink water, even in cold weather the body still needs water
  • Have your heating system serviced by a qualified technician
  • Create a Winter emergency kit to keep in your vehicle
  • Listen to weather forecasts and check your supplies
  • Bring pets indoor or provide adequate shelter
