Youth Firearm Safety Class

Sherburne County periodically hosts a Minnesota DNR Youth Firearms Safety Certification class.

Info for when we have classes scheduled

The DNR Youth Firearms Safety Certification class is the “Field Day” for students who have completed the 8-10 hour Hunter Course, which can be found here.

The student must be 11 years old before training date to be able to participate in the class. A parent or guardian must attend the first 30 minutes of the Field Day.

Students must bring the following to class: Field Day voucher, copy of birth certificate, bag lunch, blaze orange article of clothing (i.e. hat, cap or vest), survival kit in small bag/backpack (info on survival kit is with the online course).

Dress for the weather!!  Plan to be outside for 4 hours.

Firearms used for testing will be provided; do not bring any firearms to training.

Pre-registration is required (no walk-ins).

Class size is limited and fills quickly.

There is NO cost.
