Battery Collection Program

Citizens of Sherburne County have convenient options for recycling their used household batteries. Drop-off sites are available throughout the County for the public to take their batteries.

Batteries can be hazardous to the environment because of the amount of mercury, lead, cadmium, or silver they contain. Not all batteries are hazardous and some newer batteries contain very little, if any, toxic metals. Manufactures are now regulated to limit contaminants in certain batteries.

This program benefits the County in the following ways:

  • Protects the environment by helping keep hazardous batteries out of County Landfills and Processing Facilities.
  • All types of hazardous batteries are recycled.
