Automotive Fluids

Hazardous Wastes

Automotive fluids include items such as:

  • Antifreeze
  • Break fluid
  • Coolant
  • Gasoline
  • Motor oil
  • Power steering fluid
  • Transmission fluid

Bring automotive fluids to the Sherburne County Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events.

It is illegal to place most automotive fluids in the garbage. Do not pour automotive fluids down the drain, on the ground or down a storm drain. Some service stations accept automotive fluids for a fee. Call first.

Automotive Batteries

Hazardous Wastes

Bring batteries from cars or other vehicles – boats, snowmobiles, ATVs - back to where you purchased it. All businesses that sell vehicle batteries are required to accept up to five used batteries per person at one time for free, whether you buy a new battery or not. Or, bring to Sherburne County Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events. It is illegal to place vehicle batteries in the garbage.

Oil & Filters

Hazardous Wastes

All locations that sell motor oil in Minnesota (including auto dealerships, gas stations, and auto repair shops) must either accept used motor oil or have a sign that tells you the nearest location where you can take it.
