Family & Child Services - Minnesota Children and Family Services Review

In 2008-2009, Sherburne County Social Services participated in the Minnesota Children and Family Services Review (CFSR). The purpose of the CFSR is to evaluate the performance of county social services agencies like Sherburne County Social Services in meeting the safety, permanency and well-being needs of children whose families are involved with county-based child welfare and child protection services.

The 2008-2009 CFSR involved two parts. First, a self-assessment PDF was completed by Sherburne County Social Services to identify both strengths, areas where Social Services is doing well in meeting the needs of children and families, and areas needing improvement. The second part of the CFSR involved an intensive on-site review of 12 specific case files by the Minnesota Department of Human Services Quality Assurance staff to further identify both strengths and areas needing improvement in Sherburne County Social Services practices in meeting the safety, permanency and well-being needs of children.

The CFSR also involves input from additional community stakeholders, including district court judges, Citizen Review Panels, Guardians ad Litem, licensed foster parents and the Children’s Justice Initiative teams.

Sherburne County Social Services received the results of the CFSR and created a Program Improvement Plan (PIP) to build on the identified strengths and to address areas needing improvement.
