Sherburne County Social Services administrative unit provides overall administrative, planning and support services to ensure the delivery of income maintenance and social service programs to the community and citizens of Sherburne County. Administrative activities include review of Agency work, goals, program development, budget preparation, and general direction of services.
The County Board of Commissioners sets local policies based on recommendations made by the Director of Social Services. Work activities include the maintenance of financial records, accounts and payment of fiscal transactions for the department along with the preparation of reports for revenue reimbursement. We provide support services for the department including being first response to the public at the front reception area, providing accounting and clerical support services for the agency, and overall coordination of activities for the maintenance of Agency programs and services.
Sherburne County ranks near the bottom in per capita overall costs for social service programs among all Minnesota Counties. Some of the reasons for this include good fiscal management and rapid growth of the county. Many services are purchased from private and non-profit providers.
