Environmental Health - Indoor Air Quality

Indoor air pollutants cause a variety of health symptoms ranging from immediate effects such as irritation of the eyes, nose and throat to long-term effects which include some respiratory diseases and cancer.

There are many sources of indoor air pollutants. These include molds from wet or damp carpet, combustions sources such as oil, gas, wood and tobacco products, and outside sources like radon and pesticides. Inadequate ventilation, high temperatures and humidity can increase the level the indoor air pollutants.
