Director
Under general direction of the 10th Judicial District, Sherburne County Judges and Sherburne County Board of Commissioners the primary purpose of this position is to plan, administer, organize, manage and direct all activities of the Sherburne County Probation Department. Duties include but are not limited to: administering, planning, budgeting, organizing, managing personnel, developing programs, delegating work, developing and implementing goals, coordinating plans, seeking funding, providing public relations, conducting research based projects and performing additional duties as necessary.
Court Unit
The court unit officers are responsible for completing court ordered assessments including chemical use assessments (CUA), domestic abuse assessments (DUA), and pre-sentence investigations (PSI). A validated risk/needs assessment tool (LSI-R) is completed on offenders sentenced for a gross misdemeanor offense. In addition, a supplemental risk/needs assessment tool is used for all domestic abuse offenses (DVI short form) and gross misdemeanor impaired driving offenses (DRI short form). The court unit is also responsible for completing bail evaluations, and meeting with offenders post-sentence to complete the probation intake process.
Adult Unit
The adult probation unit supervises misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor and felony offenders ordered to pretrial release, and adult offenders convicted of misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor offenses and felony charges that have been reduced by conviction. Offenders are supervised by their risk and need as determined by a validated risk/needs assessment (LSI-R). The Adult Unit monitors the offender’s compliance with court ordered conditions, completes restitution studies, and makes appropriate referrals to community based programs and/or other court ordered programming.
Juvenile Unit
The Juvenile Unit supervises all juvenile offenders, including those that qualify for the diversion program. Offenders, with the exception of diversions and petty misdemeanors, are supervised by their risk and need as determined by a validated risk/needs assessment (YLS/CMI). The Juvenile Unit monitors the offender’s compliance with court ordered conditions, completes court ordered reports and restitution studies, and makes appropriate referrals to community based programs and/or other court ordered programming.
Support Unit
Provide clerical support to the Director and Probation Officers in the capacity of Administrative Assistant and Office Assistants.
